So August 10th was the big moving day and I can honestly say it was much easier than expected. My hubs and bestie took me to the airport to send me off. It was a tearful goodbye which was cut short because my suitcase was 30 lbs. overweight - Yikes! They were able to help me get my luggage to an appropriate weight which helped me put the sadness to the side for the time being. I know that with all of the available ways to contact people these days it'll feel as if I'm still there but I miss them both dearly (not to mention everyone else I left in FL). I am so grateful that I was able to say my goodbye's and leave the apartment packed with just a few things left for Ricky on his to-do list. I was welcomed to the west coast in true Seattle fashion with over cast skies and open arms from my big brother and sister-in-law. I've been hanging at their place for the past few days since they actually have furniture, entertainment, and well food. I will actually be spending my first night in my new apartment tomorrow because I get to pick up the first wave of our stuff from the train station first thing in the morning! I'm so excited to finally start getting the apartment together and making it our own.
For now this is our only piece of furniture...
...it's essential, right? I know it'll come in handy when I get bored and need something to do on the nights when I'm by myself in my empty apartment :)
Ricky will be here in 14 days and I CANNOT wait! I know that I won't consider our new apartment home until I have him and our furry babies here with me. For now I'll just unpack our boxes, explore a little bit of the city, (of course keeping the good stuff until Ricky joins me) and get some reading done (Thanks to Borders for the great deals!). I hope that things keep going the way they are because I really think I can make it here for a while :)
Coming up next - a virtual before tour of the apartment...
